Alexandra Maria Lara, a Romanian and German actress who works on TV and in films is most well-known for her roles in films like Rush and Downfall Youth Without Youth Control. Born as the only child from Romanian acting star Valentin Platareanu, Alexandra entered the showbiz world early and was acting in lead roles on various television dramas by the time she was sixteen. Her critically acclaimed performance in the film made for television Der Tunnel paved way for many other noteworthy roles, including that of Adolf Hitler's secretary Traudl Junge in the commercially and critically popular Oscar nominated war-time drama film Downfall. The Reader is another Oscar nominated movie featuring this actress. Alexandra has been involved in many important projects both locally as well as internationally. These comprise British biographical film Control as well as The Dust of Time as in addition to the French historical miniseries Napoleon. Her other roles include being juror at two festivals: the Transylvania International Film Festival and Cannes Film Festival.
